Terms of Service
The rules for using Sortr, kept as short as we could make them.
Effective 31 October 2026 · Version 17
The short version
- Sortr is a free ticket bot for Discord with a dashboard at sortr.xyz.
- Follow Discord's rules. Do not use Sortr to spam, abuse people or break the law.
- If you add Sortr to a server, you are responsible for how it is set up there, including telling your members that tickets are logged and transcribed.
- If you remove Sortr from your server, we delete what we hold for it 30 days later.
- A site your server works with can hold an API key to change your panels. It acts for your server, not for us.
- Sortr is provided as is, with no promise it will always be up. We limit our liability as far as the law allows, and no further.
- Questions, and reports of anything illegal or against these terms: team@sortr.xyz.
1. What Sortr is
Sortr is a bot for Discord and a web dashboard at sortr.xyz. Server admins add the bot to their Discord server and configure ticket panels in the dashboard. Members press a button on a panel (or use a slash command), optionally fill in a short form, and get a private ticket channel where the server's staff can help them. When a ticket closes or is deleted (the server's admins choose which), Sortr can save a transcript of the conversation, post it to a staff channel, send it to the member who opened the ticket, and keep an encrypted copy on sortr.xyz that the server's owner and Administrators and that member can open.
Sortr is operated by Unlock Services LLC, a limited liability company registered in Wyoming, United States ("Sortr", "we", "us"). Its contact details are in section 14. These terms are an agreement between you and us. They apply to everyone who uses Sortr: server admins who install and configure it, staff who handle tickets, members who open tickets, and anyone who signs in to the dashboard. By adding Sortr to a server, signing in to the dashboard or using the bot's buttons and commands, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Sortr.
How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
2. Who can use Sortr
- You need a Discord account, and you must be old enough to have one: at least 13, or older where your country's law requires it. Sortr is not for anyone younger than Discord allows.
- You must follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines whenever you use Sortr. Sortr runs inside Discord, and Discord's rules always apply on top of these.
- If you are not allowed to enter into agreements like this one where you live, you may only use Sortr with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
3. Your Discord account
There are no Sortr accounts or passwords. You sign in to the dashboard with your Discord account, and Sortr shows you the servers you own or can manage. You are responsible for keeping your Discord account secure; anything done on Sortr from your account counts as done by you. If you think someone else has used your account on Sortr, use "Sign out everywhere" in the dashboard and secure your Discord account.
4. If you add Sortr to a server
When you add Sortr to a Discord server and configure it, you are in charge of what it does there. In particular you agree to:
- Agree for the server. Our Data Processing Terms are part of these terms and apply to the ticket data Sortr processes for your server. You agree to them when you add Sortr to a server or set it up in the dashboard. If you do that for someone else, such as your organization or a client, you confirm that you may agree for them.
- Tell your members that tickets are logged and transcribed. Sortr records who opens tickets, stores form answers, keeps an event log and saves transcripts of ticket conversations that your staff can read. Transcripts are on when you add Sortr; you can switch them off. Your members need to know this before they open a ticket. Put it in your server rules, in the panel message, or in the ticket's opening message (every message Sortr sends can be edited in the dashboard). The Privacy Policy explains what is stored and for how long; you can link to it.
- Use Sortr lawfully. This includes data-protection law where it applies to you. For ticket content, you decide the purposes and Sortr processes it on your behalf, so you are the controller of your members' ticket data and we are your processor, under the Data Processing Terms. Do not use ticket forms to ask for passwords, card or bank details, government ID numbers, health information or other sensitive data, nor for photos or scans of identity documents or other files that contain them; Discord's developer rules forbid collecting them through bots, and Sortr is not built for them.
- Own what you configure. The panel and ticket messages, form questions, images and other content you set up are yours and your responsibility. They must not infringe anyone's rights or break Discord's rules or the law.
- Choose staff carefully. Your server's owner and anyone with the Administrator permission can change Sortr's settings there and read every transcript kept for that server. Support roles you add can see and act in tickets. Grant those permissions with that in mind.
- Pick sensible retention. You choose how long transcripts are kept on sortr.xyz and can delete any of them at any time. Keep them only as long as you need them. Copies posted into Discord are yours to delete in Discord.
Moving from Ticket Tool
If you use Import from Ticket Tool, you ask Sortr to read your server's channels each time you scan, as the Privacy Policy describes, and to create panels from what it finds. If you choose Replace, or to take over Ticket Tool's open tickets, you also ask Sortr to delete Ticket Tool's panel messages, and the first message of each open ticket, and to post Sortr's own in their place. Deleted messages cannot be brought back, so copy anything you want to keep first. You confirm that you may make these changes in your server. Tell your members that their open tickets are now handled by Sortr, and that a ticket's transcript will include what was written in it before Sortr took it over.
Other sites with an API key
At the request of your server's owner or Administrators, the people who run Sortr can make an API key for your server, for a site your server works with, such as an agency's dashboard. The key lets that site read and change your server's panel message, opening message and form questions, and update the panel already posted, as the Privacy Policy describes. It cannot read tickets, answers, transcripts or anything about your members. That site acts for your server, not for Sortr: what it changes is your server's responsibility, as if your admins had made the change, and keeping the key safe is that site's. Every change made with a key is posted in your server's log channels. To have a key revoked, write to team@sortr.xyz. We may revoke any key at any time, for example if it may have leaked.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Sortr, or help anyone else use it, to:
- send spam, unsolicited messages or advertising, or open tickets in bulk or automatically;
- harass, threaten, defraud or deceive anyone, or share content that is illegal, hateful, sexualises minors, or otherwise breaks Discord's Community Guidelines;
- collect data about people beyond what running your own support tickets requires, or use Sortr to build profiles of users or to gather data for sale or advertising;
- get around limits, cooldowns, blocks or other restrictions that a server or Sortr has set;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download sortr.xyz, its API or transcript pages, or access data belonging to a server you do not manage or a ticket you did not open;
- probe, overload, attack or interfere with Sortr, its servers, Discord or any network, or try to get around its security or encryption;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell Sortr, or present a copy of it as your own or as affiliated with us;
- break any law, or infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy.
If you see something on Sortr that breaks these rules or the law, tell us. Section 6 explains how.
Sortr's support server on Discord has its own rules as well. We may remove messages, or members, that break them, these terms or Discord's rules.
6. Reports, removals and appeals
Anyone can tell us about something on Sortr they believe is illegal or breaks these terms, for example a transcript, an image used in a panel, or the way a server uses Sortr. Write to team@sortr.xyz. It is our single point of contact for users and for authorities, in English or Czech.
So that we can act on a report, please include:
- where it is: its link, or the server and the ticket;
- why you believe it is illegal or breaks these terms;
- your name and email address (you may leave them out if the report is about the sexual abuse or exploitation of children);
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the report is accurate and complete.
We confirm that we received it, look at it promptly and tell you what we decided. A person reviews every report; we do not use automated tools to decide them. If something suggests that someone's life or safety is in danger, we tell the authorities.
If we remove or restrict content, or suspend a server or a user, we tell the person affected what we did, the facts we relied on, which part of these terms or which law it was based on, and how to challenge it, unless the law does not allow us to tell them, or telling them could harm the investigation of a serious crime, such as the sexual abuse of children. To challenge a decision, reply to team@sortr.xyz within six months. We look at it again and tell you the result. You can also go to court.
7. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Sortr infringes your copyright, for example an image used in a panel, you can report it as section 6 describes. For a notice under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, send it to our copyright agent below, and include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- where the material is on Sortr, such as its link;
- your address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act for them.
When a notice includes all of this, we remove or disable the material and tell the person who added it. We remove it from sortr.xyz and from the panels Sortr has posted; copies already inside Discord messages are removed in Discord, by the server's admins or through Discord. If they believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, they can send a counter-notice to the same address with their physical or electronic signature; what was removed and where it was; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that they believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and their name, address and telephone number, with a statement that they consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for their address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice. We pass the counter-notice on, and may put the material back 10 to 14 business days later unless the person who sent the notice tells us they have gone to court.
Where appropriate, we end the access of users and servers who repeatedly infringe copyright.

8. Your content and your data
- Everything you and your members write in tickets, and everything you configure, stays yours. We claim no ownership of it.
- You allow us to store, copy, process and display that content as far as needed to run Sortr for you: to build transcripts, post them where you have told Sortr to post them, show them in the dashboard, and keep them for the retention period you chose. We use it for nothing else.
- When Sortr posts your content into Discord, Discord's terms for apps also let Discord use it to run and improve its services. By having Sortr post it, you allow that too.
- Sortr is yours to use, not to own. We keep all rights in the bot, the dashboard, the name and the design. You may use them only as these terms allow.
- Transcripts are provided as plain HTML files. Download or post to Discord anything you want to keep; once a transcript's retention period ends, the copy on sortr.xyz is gone. If you remove Sortr from your server, we delete everything we hold for it on sortr.xyz 30 days later. Add Sortr back before then and it picks up where it left off. Copies posted into Discord stay in Discord. You can also ask us at team@sortr.xyz to delete it sooner, and we do so within one month.
- Personal data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Members can ask us to see or delete data about them, and we may pass such requests to the admins of the server concerned, who must help resolve them.
9. A free service, provided as is
Sortr is currently free. We may introduce paid features later; if we do, we will say clearly what costs money and nothing you already use will start costing money without notice and your agreement.
Sortr is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep it running and to fix problems, but we make no promises about uptime, response times, or that it will be free of errors, and there is no service-level agreement. Discord outages, changes to Discord's platform or rules, hosting problems and plain mistakes can all make Sortr unavailable or behave unexpectedly, sometimes without warning. We may add, change or remove features at any time. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Nothing in this section removes rights that the law gives you as a consumer and that cannot be excluded by contract.
10. Liability
We are liable without limit for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under statutory product liability, and wherever else the law does not allow liability to be limited.
Otherwise, because Sortr is free, our liability is limited to damage that was foreseeable and typical for a service like this and that results from a breach of an essential obligation of these terms. We are not liable for indirect damage, lost profits, lost data that you could have backed up (transcripts can be downloaded and posted to Discord at any time), or for anything caused by Discord, your hosting of your own community, or other people's misuse of Sortr.
If you use Sortr for a business, an organization or a client, and not as a consumer:
- our total liability to you for all claims about Sortr is limited to US$100, or to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim if that is more. This does not limit the liability in the first paragraph of this section;
- you will cover us, including reasonable legal costs, for claims by others that arise from your server's content and settings, what you collect or send with Sortr, or your breach of these terms or the law, unless we caused them.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights under the law of the country where you live.
11. Suspension and termination
- You can stop at any time by removing Sortr from your server and signing out of the dashboard. We delete what we hold for the server 30 days later (see Your content and your data).
- We may suspend or remove a server, a user or specific content, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe these terms, Discord's rules or the law have been broken, if the use is harming Sortr or other users, or if Discord or a legal authority requires it. We tell you what we did and why, and how to challenge it, as section 6 describes.
- We may discontinue Sortr altogether. If we do, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice on sortr.xyz, so you can download what you need, and we will then delete the data we hold as Discord's developer terms require.
- If Discord ends Sortr's access to its platform, Sortr stops at once. Discord's developer terms then require us to delete the data we hold straight away, so there is no 30 days' notice and there may be no time to download anything first. Copies posted into Discord stay there.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when Sortr gains features or the law changes. When we do, we publish the new version on this page, with the date it takes effect at the top and a note below of what changed. If you keep using Sortr after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree with a change, stop using Sortr; you can remove it from your server at any time.

13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming and the federal laws of the United States. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there. Otherwise the state and federal courts located in Wyoming have jurisdiction.
If you have a problem, please write to us first at team@sortr.xyz; most things can be sorted out that way.
If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies. These terms, including the Data Processing Terms, and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sortr.
